Junior is a child cartoonist growing up on a Spokane Indian Reservation. He has a variety of medical problems, and he is beat up on by everybody except his friend Rowdy. Wanting to have a good education, Junior leaves the rez to go to an all-white school that all the people at his school despise. Despite being a traitor to his people had having great tragedies, Junior learns to live differently than he used to. As time goes on, his sister Mary, gets married and someone he loves passes away. Then, basketball season comes and he has problems playing against his old public school because his opponents beat up on him as the game goes on. Junior wants Rowdy to understand that he is the same person, but will Junior overcome his problems? I like this book because it has friendship and lots of emotion.
