The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

by Kate DeCamillo 44444

This book is my favorite book in the whole entire world. It shares love, hate, responsibility, and friendship. It starts with an only child named Abilene and her family, the Tulane family. Abilene has had her china bunny-rabbit, Edward Tulane for a long time. Edward loves himself more than anything else that he can see or hear. One day, Abilene gets a story from her grandmother, Pellegrina. It was about a princess who loved no one and gets turned into a warthog because of that. After the story, Pellegrina tucks Edward into his bed and whispers in his ear “I’m very disappointed in you.”

It was Abilene’s first trip to London on the ship, The Queen Mary. She took Edward along with her. Everyone loved Edward. Then one day, two boys were playing with him. They took off all of his clothes including his underwear, and threw him over the boat. That’s when his journey begins.

I loved this book and read it over the summer for my 16th time because it shows that you cannot hate. You can only love. And if you hate, you need to learn to love. Also whenever I feel like I hate someone, I read the book and reconsider my hating the person or thing.
